The team evaluates a sample of 673 Ikarians aged over 65 who lived on the island permanently. Siasos and his teammates randomly selected 71 men and 71 women from the sample to take part in the study.
The medical staff then used health checkups (for high blood pressure, diabetes,etc.) and set a questions to get more detail on the participants’ medical health, lifestyles and coffee drinking ratio, in addition to testing their endothelial cells.
The researchers investigated all types of coffee taken by participants – but found that more than 87% of those in the study consumed boiled Organic Greek coffee daily.
